The Children of the Night
The realm of the Children of the Night is just north of the Dashto Kingdom. Both peoples live on Wyvixx Island, however, the realm of the Children of the Night begins at the Night Mountains continuing eastward to the sea. It is perpetually night in their lands and the inhabitants of it have never seen the sun. Over time the Children of the Night came to call their realm the Darkwood Empire, and the few outsiders who have survived this place have passed the name on to others. The Children of the Night are called such because they do not live past the age of 20, the reason for this is because of an ancient magical curse. This curse also caused the lands to be turned to darkness. At the time the inhabitants of the land were humans, but as time went on they mutated to adapt to their environment and now have a terrifying look. Their eyes are much larger and their skin is mostly white. One does not come to the island expecting to move quietly for the Children of the Night have super sensitive hearing, a crunching twig can be heard from almost half a mile away. They live as savages mostly, but occasionally they come together for rituals in their capital, the Black City, or at the Night Forge. Despite the terrors of the Dark Empire, some brave and foolish sdventurers attempt to enter the lands hoping to either capture a Child of the Night, or to find one of their legendary dark-metal weapons.
Before the land was made dark there was a nation called the Nisarria Kingdom. The Nisarria were a highly religions people believing in the god of strength Ulsolan. They dedicated themselves to becoming a strong proud people and they boasted not only in having some of the finest weapons around but also the greatest tournaments in all the world.
However, now after the darkening, the Children of the Night follow the god of the night Moraton. They believe the goddess of the day, Tiales, to be evil and thus have come to despise the daylight, even though none of them have seen it. Daylight has become a legend amongst the people of the Darkwood Empire and the people who've wandered into their realm claiming daylight exists have been promptly eaten.
After the darkening the Nisarria Kingdom the land fell into disrepair and the cities crumbled. For over a century the people cursed to live only for small time in darkness roamed through the lands forming small tribes. These tribes would sometimes have wars killing all within both tribes. This went on for most of the century until several tribes banded together and formed what is now the Black City. This tribe then moved throughout the land and brought back to life the greatest forge of the Nisarrian Kingdom, the name forgotten, and called it the Night Forge. The weapons made within the forge have become some of the most coveted weapons within Horeilifei for their dark metal and magical properties.
